Hi my name is Denise and this is one of my very first college classes. I work in HR and feel like I am lacking confidence due to not having a business degree so I plan on changing that with the TAP program. I am taking this course because it is required :) but am also looking forward to learning from it!
Hi Dr. Cate, My name is Kim Wynn and I recently finished the BBA TAP and I am scheduled to graduate in May. I am taking this class as a general elective and as a recommendation from Sue Thompson. I am looking forward to meeting you.
Hey Dr. Cate, My name is Jay Volker and I am a 21 year old junior at Thomas More College. I went to Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am taking this class as one of my philosophy electives that I need to graduate with next spring. Also, I realized that I needed another class this semester to keep me on pace to graduate on time. I plan on this class giving me a new perspective on many different areas of life. See you all tonight.
Hello! My name is Melsisa Davis and I a 22 year old Senior at Thomas More. I grew up in Dayton, OH and have gone to Catholic schools from kindergarten up until now. I played soccer in high school and my freshman year at TMC. I am taking this class to fulfill my last philosophy credit. I hope to learn what it really means to be a feminist and all of the other aspects that going along with it. I hope that this class will broaden the way I currently view life in general.
Hi Dr. Cate! This may be late, and a tad repetitive, but first class was a little overwhelming. I'm an International Studies junior and ready to pick up a Sociology minor. I'm from Cincinnati, but I currently live on campus. I have been active with my dance studio for many years, and am currently stage manager of our upcoming Spring production. I took this class because the work we did with it in Philosophy of Science really sparked an interest. I think the topics covered are important and very interesting. I can't wait to go deeper into what feminist epistemolgy truly is and how it will play both into my life and my studies.
Hello! I'm Danielle Weaver (the one who sparked all the drama last class haha!). I'm a Senior and graduating in May with a degree in communications and two minors in spanish and political science. I am originally from Asheville, NC but have lived in several different places as a child, including Colombia, South America and New Zealand (consequently I am fluent in Spanish). Traveling has opened my eyes to so many new ideas and situations, and I often get frustrated with the close mindedness of most midwesterners. It's as if this area is a bubble, and few manage or even want to leave at all. I am also a musician; I write songs, sing and play guitar. I am excited to graduate, but also nervous because i still don't really know who I am, or consequently what I want to do. This is why i think any philosophy course at this point in my life is going to be helpful. What better way to wrap up my undergrad career than to be exposed to many different ways of thinking? I am excited to learn from you and all of my classmates, which i already have just in one class. As of right now I don't really consider myself a feminist, though i also feel like i don't have a clear idea of what it really means. So, I look forward to figuring it out and to many more debates in the near future!
Hi Dr. Cate, I am Courtney Rosser, I am a Junior psychology major and pre-law minor. I plan to go to law school when I finish my undergraduate. I am from Maysville, KY a small town about an hour away from here, but I currently live on campus. I took this class to fulfill the requirement but also because I thought this would be an interesting topic. I look forward to learning more about feminist epistemology!
My name is Sam Brown. I'm a junior and my major is accounting. The main reason I'm taking this class is that fit s into my schedule and that it fulfills my core requirements. My wife (Kara) and I are expecting in early June (we are having a girl)! So, I'm trying to graduate as soon as possible and pass the CPA test. I wasn't able to attend our first class but I look forward to meeting all of you next class.
My name is Felicity Schaffer. I am a sophomore nursing major. I am taking this class because it fits into my schedule and I need another philosophy course. I am excited though to learn more about the study of knowledge!
My name is Kimberly Wyatt, and I am a senior Environmental Science major. I am married with two small children (my daughter is two and my son is one), and I am looking forward to continuing my education at UC beginning in the fall. I am taking this course to fulfill the second philosophy requirement, but I selected it because I really enjoyed your Biomedical Ethics course, and I remembered you saying that this was another one of your favorite topics to teach... I loved the debate and open discussion in your ethics class, and I hope that that environment carries over to this course. Also, I am admittedly lacking in my understanding of feminism, so I'm hoping to take a lot away from this course.
Hi, my name is Lauren Schwarte. I am a sophmore in the nursing program but this is my fifth year of college (i'm on the 7 year bachelor's program). I need a second philosophy class to be able to graduate and this seemed like a pretty interesting course. I had no idea it was going to be this awesome though :) I love the debating. I love how much this class makes you think about different topics and listeing to everyone's opinions on those topics; its fun. I have not been in a discussion class like this before and i'm absolutely loving it. I want more!
My name is Lindsay Steinhauer and I am a senior graduating this summer. I am originally from Illinois, but have lived several places before adopting Cincinnati as my home. While I am taking this class to fullfill my philosophy requirement, it is a bit of a treat since I enjoy classes that encourage independent thought and analysis, rather than just memorization of material.
Hello! I'm Dani and I'm technically a first semester junior even though this is my fourth semester here. I wanted to take this class because A. I need a philosophy credit and B. this school doesn't offer a women's studies program. I wish I could have gone to school for women's studies and gender studies, but we don't offer either (graduate work plans!) so I told myself I would take any offered class that had a hint of women's studies or gender studies! So that's why I'm here!
Hi, I'm Samantha Isler and I'm a junior English/theatre double major, somehow. I am taking this class to fulfill my core requirement and I chose this one because I did not consider myself a feminist until last year, at which point I realized that I'm definitely a feminist, just not the bra-burning man-hating kind I'd always pictured when somebody said the word "feminist." I like analyzing the idea of equality and how it's perceived by different people. And honestly, I had absolutely no idea what Epistemology was when I signed up.
Hello, My name is Matthew Scott and i am a philosophy major and psych/theology minor here at Thomas More College. I just recently got married this past July. I graduate this semester and I am not sure what I want to do with my life. This makes my 5th philosophy class for this semester. I am from Northern Kentucky and have lived here all my life. I want to move to Florida when I get everything that I want to accomplish here in Kentucky.
Hi,my name is Beverly and I know this will be one of the most challenging classes I have had at Thomas More. I look forward to the challenge and to the interaction with all of the bright young students in this class.
Hola, my name is Patricia Brock and I am a 5th returning senoir. I have a 7 month old son, his name is Talon! I am taking this class because it looked really interesting from what I saw. I am looking forward to a great semester!
Hi, my name is Maria Pabst and I am senior this year and I'll be graduating in May. I'm taking this course to fulfill my philosophy requirements and because I know nothing about epistemology and it seems interesting.
Hey everyone. My name is Bryce Molnar. I am 20 years old, and a sophomore here. I play football here at Thomas More and am from Cincinnati, Ohio. I graduated from Elder High school. I enjoy golfing and being outside. I am taking this class because I needed a Philosophy credit and this class sounded intriguing. It also fit into my schedule. I really have enjoyed the classroom discussions so far and the readings have been quite interesting, especially the meditations.
